Characterizing Front Panel I/O: Reliable Host and Module Testing for 1.6T and 3.2T Systems

October 6 @ 1:00 pm - 1:30 pm EDT

As datacenter systems scale toward 1.6T and 3.2T architectures, front panel I/O is becoming a more critical point for electrical characterization. Higher lane rates increase sensitivity to breakout geometry, transition quality, and the measurement interface itself.

Whether engineers are testing the host side or module side, the goal is the same: gain controlled access to the DUT without allowing the test setup to influence the measurement. Excess breakout length, mechanical variation, and repeated use can all reduce measurement fidelity and consistency.

In this 30 minute webinar, Amphenol Ardent Concepts will explore how shorter electrical paths, repeatable engagement, and high density solderless access can help reduce fixture induced variability and support more reliable front panel I/O validation. The session will also cover practical considerations including repeatability, serviceability, thin PCB support, and consistent electrical access across different test workflows.

Attendees will:

• Understand the challenges of host and module side front panel I/O characterization
• Learn how breakout length, transitions, and fixture variability can affect high speed measurements
• See how shorter electrical paths and repeatable access can improve test consistency
• Explore how TR Multicoax™ supports high density, solderless access across validation workflows
